Für die Projektion auf den Wasservorhang auf der „Fountain Plaza“ in Gwangju, Südkorea, entstand die Vision eines Tauchgangs durch ein Korallenriff. Eine Vorwärtsbewegung in die Dunkelheit, wo immer wieder Wesen aus der Tiefe erscheinen. Aus dieser Idee entstanden einzelne Kostüme und Kreationen von Wasserwesen, so z.B. kleine Quallen, große Medusen, Kalamare, kleine und große Wirbel, welche nur aus Geisselarmen bestehen. Diese bewegen sich durch den Raum und ziehen den Betrachter in das Bild hinein.
In seinen Arbeiten verwandelt sich der Künstler Torsten Bruch gerne in unterschiedlichste Figuren und probiert deren Bewegungen aus. Letztlich werden viele einzelne, performante Aufftritte gefilmt und im Video zu Gruppen und Schwärmen zusammen gesetzt. Der Künstler spielt dabei mit der Rolle des Doppelgängers und lässt mittels Kostümen und Rollenspielen fantasievolle Erweiterungen seiner Selbst entstehen.

This project was initiated the Wacoal Art Center in Yokohama (Japan) for the water projection on the water curtain at the "Fountain Plaza" in Gwangju, South Korea. The idea of a dive through a coral reef was created. A forward movement into the darkness, where creatures appear again and again from the depths. From this idea, individual costumes and creations of water creatures were created, such as small jellyfish, large medusae, squid, small and large whirls, which consist only of flagellar arms. These move through the space and draw the viewer into the picture. In his works, the artist Torsten Bruch likes to transform himself into a wide variety of figures and tries out their movements. Ultimately, many individual, performative appearances are filmed and assembled into groups and swarms in the video. The artist plays with the role of the doppelganger and creates imaginative extensions of himself by means of costumes and role-playing.
