In terms of doing something against the climate change. One scientist proposed to change the economy by using and growing more trees. Within 30 Years this can reduce the CO2 concentration in the air significantly.
In Germany, the birch tree is one of the first trees to grow fast on an empty ground. They are pioneer plants. Within six years they can reach a highth of seven meters. Their needs are very basic and they can grow pretty much everywhere.
